Peak Plate writer shares Soul Food Farm farm-to-table experience
Spencer and I were honored to meet Julie Ann Fineman on June 24 at the Soul Food Farm dinner we hosted with owner Alexis Koefoed. Julie started a website called PeakPlate.com. This website "connects food lovers to peak-of-the-season foods." Julie and the team at PeakPlate.com are passionate about good food--by which we mean nutrient-dense, free of toxins, and bursting with flavor. Read about the first farm-to-table event we co-hosted. Julie took great shots of Maezy collecting eggs at Soul Food Farm--a simply magical place--and all of us together enjoying a mid-summer evening on the farm. We are so grateful to meet activists like Julie who are committed to developing new food systems, and others who joined us at Soul Food Farm for dinner under the oaks.Julie writes:
Under the golden afternoon light, myself and others gathered around a beautiful, locally-grown meal for the first of a three-part dinner series on regenerative farming. Hosted by owner Alexis Koefoed as well as Abbey and Spencer Smith, founders of the Jefferson Center for Holistic Management, Healing the Ecosystem Through Regenerative Farming was an evening of rich conversation and enlightening presentations on building a more socially just and sustainable food system.
Enjoy Julie's full article here and then join us August 19 for another great summer evening at Soul Food Farm. In August, we will enjoy a farm-to-table dinner prepared by Chef Melissa Fernandez.
