I serve as the Savory Global Network Coordinator for the Savory Institute. I am also the owner and operator of UVE. UVE is a Savory Network Hub serving the West Coast and the Intermountain West and is headquartered in Fort Bidwell, California.
I spent time in South Africa living with families on holistically managed cattle farms after graduating magna cum laude from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a degree in animal science and a focus in communications and ethnic studies. I learned how powerful and transformational Holistic Management is in Africa and wrote my first Holistic Context. I attended graduate school at the University of Nevada, Reno, where I received a master’s degree in interactive journalism.
I grew up on a commercial cattle ranch in Indian Valley in Plumas County, California. My loving, large, loud family has lived in the valley for seven generations. Family is a source of joy for me. My mission in life is to build a beautiful world for my daughter, Maezy, and son Sam, which is why I practice Holistic Management.
Living in the rural community of Surprise Valley, California, and being involved in a global organization is a dream come true. I serve on the Surprise Valley Education Foundation board and am involved in local food groups. I enjoy doing yoga, gardening, and hiking with my children. I love running and often run alone on the mountain trails of Modoc County. When working in Africa, I do not run alone because of the abundant wildlife there.

I have lived on the land with livestock and real food in the western United States. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Master of Science in Natural Resource Sciences from Washington State University. In 2004, after completing studies in Zimbabwe and Argentina, I became an accredited professional in Holistic Management. Seeing the need to bring the tools of human flourishing to rural communities, I received a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. As a result, I created a platform, LifeEnergy.Guide that people throughout the world can use to manage and monitor their quality of life as defined within their Holistic Context.
In many different capacities, I have been honored to facilitate and witness people making profound holistic decisions as individuals, families, and groups for nearly thirty years. With my husband Tony, I have run several regenerative land-based enterprises, always with the purpose of honing my skills to enhance the well-being of people, animals, and our planet, now and into the future.
I delight in ranching, homesteading, conviviality, vibrant philosophical discussions, studying human behavior, and finding purpose in being civically active, participating in the creation of healthy communities, and restoring land.

I have spent 20+ years managing organizations, including my own, with a focus on operations and people development.
I hold an MBA in Management with an emphasis on Entrepreneurship from San Francisco State University.
I am passionate about plant medicine, regenerative farming, and organizational health. I believe that human wellness is directly tied to the health of the planet and that we must address both to achieve a sustainable global ecosystem. Since moving to rural Northern California, I have become increasingly interested in applying my professional skills to improve the lives of people and the planet. I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy while increasing my knowledge of regenerative agriculture and Holistic Management.

I am a Savory Institute Accredited Professional with a lifetime of experience grazing livestock in the Mountain West. As a fifth-generation rancher, I feel a deeply rooted sense of duty to steward working landscapes, reflected in my ongoing curiosity and desire to share my knowledge of regenerative management practices.
I have a keen sense of observation, a knowledge of botany, and a unique management perspective forged by my years on the range handling livestock on horseback. I have always dreamed of the opportunity to share these observations since I left my family’s ranch in Montana with a copy of Dan Daggett’s Beyond the Rangeland Conflict tucked under my arm to complete her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science at The Colorado College.
When I am not focusing on my professional interest in ecology, I enjoy getting my hands dirty, furthering my horsemanship, exercising my artistic muscles by creating fine mohair cinches, and enjoying my kelpie dogs alongside my son and husband on the ranch they steward in Southwestern Idaho.

I am a lifelong rancher and have refined my practice of Holistic Management since I attended my first course with Allan Savory in 1987. I have extensive ranching and Holistic Management experience in the Northern Great Plains, the sagebrush steppe of Wyoming, and the Nebraska sandhills.
I have demonstrated the ability to manage livestock to heal the ecosystem processes while increasing profitability. I have been successful in lowering boundaries between the environment and ranching communities and the liberal and conservative ideologies.

My passion for food and farming permeates every part of my life– as an eater, a cook, a gardener, a rancher, a food systems designer, an entrepreneur, and a facilitator. I am a fourth generation cattle rancher, and manage our grass fed beef operation, the Lazy R Ranch, alongside my dad in the channeled scablands west of Spokane, Washington. We have been practicing holistic management since the mid 1990s. I’m particularly interested in the intersection between social equity issues such as class, race, gender, sexuality, and ranching.
My academic pursuits have been around the intersection of business, marketing, sustainability, and food systems design. I attended Western Washington University where I pursued a degree in business and sustainable agriculture. I went on to earn my MBA at Bainbridge graduate Institute, a small independent business school dedicated to using the tools of business for environmental and social good.Upon completing that program, I co-founded LINC Foods, a worker-farmer-owned cooperative food hub based in Spokane, and organization on which I am proud to still serve on the board of directors. I am a second generation Holistic Management educator and have had the honor of teaching and studying holistic management in Turkey, Mexico, and throughout the United States. Along with fellow Holistic Management practitioner, Sandra Matheson, I am a co-facilitator of the New Cowgirl Camp, a 5 day intensive course for women interested in learning the ins and outs of regenerative ranching.
When I’m not chasing cows or fixing fence, I enjoy gardening, singing to my dogs, riding horses, and kayaking

I am a first-generation land steward, a practitioner of Holistic Management, and a lifelong learner. Despite or perhaps because of my largely suburban upbringing, I have always been fascinated by the more than human world and how we as a species fit within it. In 2012, I graduated with a B.A. in cultural anthropology. These studies fueled my interest in human cultures and how we interact with the environment and, most critically, taught me never to accept engrained cultural paradigms as truth. I spent several years after college in various youth mentorship roles with a focus on helping youth build joyful relationship skills.
Geoff Lawton's work in Wadi Rum inspired me to explore regeneration. My journey with Holistic Management began one winter evening in 2015 when I saw Allan Savory's Ted talk. I turned to my partner Ethan and declared, "This is the most important thing we can do!" Since I uttered those words, we have pursued deep knowledge of Holistic Management and its land-based applications across the brittleness scale. We have traveled, worked, and studied with diverse practitioners in New Zealand, Australia, Washington, and Kansas. In 2023, I became an accredited professional with the Savory Institute. Holistic Management captivates and engages me in social, environmental, and economic contexts. In June 2024, we finally found home in 76 acres and a little house in Fort Bidwell, CA where we are excited to pursue a community model of ecosystem service grazing.
I am beyond delighted that I get to work within UVE. I have followed and been mentored by many of these incredible humans for years. I am particularly excited to guide courses, support cohort engagement, host webinars, and further deep knowledge and skill-based learning within the UVE offerings. I especially love connecting with our clients through 1:1 implementation support. What excites me most about this work is where environmental and social regeneration uplift one another. As a first-generation steward, I am particularly passionate about empowering the diverse new voices critical to our movement if we want to successfully reverse anthropogenic desertification.
In my spare time, I love training with my stock dog, Nina, and continuing my learning of animal husbandry and stockmanship. I also frequently explore my love singing, photography and drawing/painting. These practices help me process experiences and hone my skills of more fully seeing, appreciating, and feeling what is right in front of me.

I am a 5th-generation farmer’s daughter from Southern Oregon/Northern California. My background in Finance and Program Management led to 10 years in corporate finance and earning an MBA before returning to my roots. To balance out my desk job, I taught cooking and floral arranging which provided a platform to share my family’s story as land and cattle stewards while bringing people together to break bread in an educational format.
Since returning to be closer to my family in our agricultural community, I have become actively engaged in various educational roles with aspiring entrepreneurs. Because volunteering is in my DNA, I can usually be found helping out with assorted civic projects. While I am new to Holistic Management, I cannot wait to apply what I have learned as I embrace my newly written Holistic Context. When I am not playing in spreadsheets, I can be found in the kitchen, beautiful outdoors, or with family and friends. I find cooking to be therapeutic and love trying new recipes. Food is very social in nature and I feel it has the ability to bring individuals together from all walks of life. My significant other and I share 27 chickens, 3 dogs, and 3 cats, and are in the process of adding cattle to our homestead. Future plans of a bakery and community kitchen are currently in development. Stay tuned!

Born and raised in Ohio, I am a hands-on learner, passionate teacher of Holistic Management as it relates to all aspects of life, and wife of an aircraft mechanic. I reminisce on days spent herding sheep in Italy and Utah and long to someday create a ranching/farming community and lead kids (of all ages) on backpacking trips with pack-goats!
When not walking the land with agricultural producers and conducting Ecological Outcome Verification, I enjoy freelance grant-writing for nonprofit farms, schools developing farm-to-school programs, and others through my business Refontê Ventures. As a business owner and Savory Accredited Professional with a Bachelors in Animal Science and a Masters in Ruminant Nutrition from Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo, I am using my knowledge, skills, and passions to guide people in returning to the land and accelerating the regeneration of this planet that we call home.

I grew up in cities but would visit my grandfather’s ranch frequently as a child. There, I got to experience the glory of mud and dust. It wasn’t until I graduated college that I wound up back on that ranch, watching that mud turn to dust with a grimace. Growing up outside of agriculture meant that I, at one time or another, believed that cows caused climate change and that we’d all be saved by eating more plants.
Through various exercises, like slaughtering the animals I raised and researching the benefits of grazing, I have become a fervent advocate for holistic management. EOV™ has deepened my awareness of ecosystem processes and the management decisions key to supporting them.

As a lifelong horticulturist, my family traditions of canning and cooking with my mom and crafting wine and cider with my dad were foundational in building my deep-rooted connection to land and food systems. While initially drawn to study jazz music in my early college years, I soon discovered the world of permaculture and community development and I knew I had found my calling. For the next decade, I dedicated myself to a wide variety of community-driven pursuits before transitioning to livestock and land stewardship, including organizing to prevent gender-based violence on campus, special K9 SAR (air scent dog) training with Yamhill Special Teams, leading Wilderness Youth Therapy programs, founding the Greater Salem Technology Equity Project (GSTEP) as an extension of developing the Tech50+ adult IT fluency program in Salem, and co-founding the Salem Food Co-op.
In 2014 I began my Holistic Management journey while also founding Saueressen, a fermented foods delicatessen. In 2018 I participated in a comprehensive Holistic Management training with Brian Wehlburg and Ian Chapman as part of a year of work-study in Australia. I followed this with a two-year management apprenticeship at Ferrell Ranch from 2021-2022 managing sheep and goat herds as well as cow herds and stockers, including stockmanship training under Bob Kinford, Josh, and Gwen Hoy.
I seek a life dedicated to regeneration in relationship with the soil food web and one another, and believe we always have more to learn from one another and our life experiences. Livestock management has given me the grounding and challenge to provide meaningful income and opportunities for inspirational and uplifting relationships. Good food, music, people, meaningful work, and moments to relax support my well-being. My interests also include cooking, musicianship, philosophy, and writing. I seek to use my skills to develop relationships that create the conditions for regenerative outcomes through education and community building.

I grew up helping my uncle and dad out on their ranch. There, I learned how to handle cattle and a bit about the economics of ranching. After attending Feather River College, I wanted to learn more about how ecological health affects the viability of ranching. Growing up in California, I witnessed firsthand ranches dwindling in size due to the pressures of development and conversion to orchards.
Now, I am focused on developing my own ranching business that brings together ecological services and production agriculture. Ecological Monitoring has helped me develop my grazing skills and introduced me to the benefits of holistic management. I look forward to witnessing the landscapes I steward in the coming years.

I have been married to Selena for 25 years, and we are the parents of nine children. Last year we welcomed our first granddaughter into our family. We are 3rd generation ranchers, managing the operation my grandfather and father built in Secret Pass and Clover Valley, Nevada.
I am a life-long learner and have been applying and teaching principles of Holistic Management, soil regeneration, and biodynamics. We have mentored many young people seeking to get a start in agriculture. Some have gone on to purchase, lease, or manage ranches. We raise and market grass-fed beef, teach onsite and virtual classes and offer internships on the ranch. Rubymountainfoods.com

I manage farmland on behalf of my family in eastern Oregon, as well as operate a small homestead business on the property, called Dora’s Garden. I raise mixed poultry and small ruminants, and I produce garden seeds, which as sold in seed packets as Sunny Eastern Oregon Seeds. In 2021, I moved home to help my mother with the business, who was suffering from a terminal illness at the time. Previously, I had pursued other careers. This included 2-3 years in the beer industry, where I most recently ran the lab at Full Sail Brewing and KYLA Hard Kombucha (which are different companies on paper, but operated by the same people in the same space). Before that, I completed a Ph.D. in ecology and evolution from the University of Illinois, where my research was on the ecology of soil bacteria and denitrification in restored floodplain wetlands. One thing I love most about working for UVE is that it combines my love of animals with my love for soil and ecology! This is a rich interaction I’ve only recently started to explore and I love to talk about it. I’m delighted and honored to be learning from some of the greats in regenerative agriculture, and I look forward to learning from the new people I meet in these courses. When I’m not digging in the soil, attending seed conferences, or working with farm animals, I catch up with my family and spend time with my cats and senior husky, Atticus. I dabble in amateur filmmaking with my YouTube channel Dora Does Things. I also continue to homebrew beer and I ferment “farmhouse” wines from the various non-grape fruits I grow here on the farm.
