Everything you wanted to know about ranching but didn’t know who to ask

Maybe you have been dreaming of a career in agriculture, but you did not grow up in a farming or ranching family. It can be hard to know where to start. At New Cowgirl Camp you will be learning from lifelong ranchers and seasoned professionals. No question is too basic or too advanced.

Cowgirl Camp curriculum includes:

• Basic farm skills, fencing, and facilities

• Animal husbandry and low-stress animal handling techniques

• Planning grazing to maximize ecological benefit

• Assessing pasture health

• Managing your farm or ranch for resilience

• Relationship building

• Farm business management

• Leadership and creating positive change

• Working in the field of agriculture and seeking opportunities

Additional Details

• The Lazy R Ranch is a working cattle ranch. Accommodations are rustic- use our provided bell tents or pitch a tent in our yard, soak in the beautiful views, and enjoy hearty meals of fresh local meats and produce. Days will be a mix of classroom lecture, group discussion, and hands on demonstration. We’ll have field trips off the ranch to other farms and ranches, and you’ll have the opportunity to participate in the day-to-day operations of the ranch— all in the company of like-minded women. Evenings are filled with discussion, music, poetry, and laughter. No matter your background or experience level, you will leave with a full heart, a full mind, and a lifelong group of friends.
